Description | Diaries kept by Valentine Reimann between 1861 and 1903. The first diary contains entries for 1861 and 1889-1903, followed by mostly complete separate diaries for 1862-1965. Each diary contains short entries recording daily activities, the weather, details of his correspondence, visits to and from family, births, deaths and marriages of family and friends. These diaries also contain details about military marches, drills, exercises, combat and the death of comrades during his service for the Union Army in the American Civil War. |
