Description Letters referring to raising a loan for the purpose of promoting emigration to New South Wales and Victoria, and applications of assistance by the Family Colonisation Loan Society. Many letters comment upon the emigration of convicts, their wives and families and enclose lists of individuals. The emigration of Irish orphans, children and families also feature heavily here. Applications for free passage to be issued to labourers, teachers and farmers also feature, along with letters referring to the diversion of American emigrants to Australia. Land sales, deeds and orders are also documented in various letters and enclosures.
