Biographical Note / History The SS Olympus commenced her first Atlantic voyage on 2 June 1863 from Liverpool to Queenstown to New York. Following this she completed eight more voyages on this route, the final one commencing on 31 May 1864. Following this, she sailed mainly between Liverpool and the Mediterranean with the exception of one Liverpool to Boston trip in March 1867. In 1872 she had major building work done, being rebuilt to 2,415 gross tons, and her length extended to 340 foot. She then sailed mainly between Liverpool and Boston, her last service on this route starting 13 July 1881. In that year she was sold to the builders in part exchange for the Pavonia and scrapped in 1891.
