Series Description The collection contains organizational correspondence, minutes and committee reports and dates from 1904 to 1933. Also included are personal correspondence, financial records, and other papers. The additions to the Johannes Hoving Papers are in one box that includes clippings, newspapers, programs, booklets, articles, flyers, receipts, sheet music, architectural drawings, and other items. The additions date from 1887 to 1932.
Biographical Note / History A physician, Johannes Walter Wilhelm Hoving was born in Wilborg, Finland, of Swedish parents. He immigrated to the United States in 1903, returning to Sweden in the 1930s. He was active in the American Scandinavian Society, Folk Festival Council of New York, and other similar organizations.
