Description | Oral history conducted with Father Cirami, a Catholic priest who trained in Italy, and worked in Philadelphia and Dobbs Ferry. Focuses primarily on church-going practices and his decision to switch from Latin to English in church. Also comments on his wartime service and his belief that Italian-Americans have succeeded more than any other minority group in assimilating to American life. Finally, he touches on the series 'Roots' which he believes has encouraged minorities to be proud of their heritage, and explains his refusal to march for civil rights in the 1960s. |
