Description The collection contains an 1860 letter to Otto Albrecht's parents, in which he discusses the gubernatorial and presidential elections and in particular mentions German political activist Carl Schurz and Lincoln's campaign in Philadelphia. Also present is a family tree and a letter which discusses the translation of Albrecht's 1860 letter, which also appears in this document.
Biographical Note / History Otto Albrecht and his brother August immigrated to Philadelphia in 1860 from the Kingdom of Hanover to avoid conscription.
