Description | Notes on Major Charles Ewell, who served in the Continental Army during the American War of Independence and moved his family to Kentucky from Virginia in 1826. The history of his family, both ancestors and descendants, is then given. Also includes a series of letters dating from throughout the nineteenth century, written by members of the Ewell family, covering issues of business, travel and local society. At the very end there is an application form to join the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. |
